Life is internal, love is eternal, death is a horizon, and a horizon is limited only by one's sight.

In Loving Memory of Terrie Rae Howard
1955 – 2007

After a courageous battle with breast cancer, our loving grandmother, mother, daughter, sister, and friend graduated from this life and joined her loved ones with God on Sunday, January 14, 2007.

She was born on June 6, 1955, in Salt Lake City, Utah to W. Dale Cowley and Nancy Dial-Cowley. She attended Jordan High School where she met and later married David Howard. After 30 wonderful, adventurous years together David and Terrie divorced but remained close friends until her final moments.

Terrie devoted her life to her best friends and surviving children; Tracie and Kimberlee Howard, her son-in law, Dwayne Lewis, and her five beloved grandchildren; Tyson, Britanei, Alexus, Jordan and Chanelle. She took pride in her role as a grandmother and loved and valued each of her grandchildren more than life its self.

Terrie spent the last 20 years of her life in Portland, Oregon, away from her surviving sister and brothers; Bill Cowley, Kim Cowley, Jay Cowley, Sandy Patterson, and Bret Cowley who live in Utah. Despite the distance she maintained very close ties to her family members and cherished the memories and times that they would spend together.

Terrie lived her life the way we should all hope to live our own. She was an incredibly kind, forgiving, selfless person who was willing to sacrifice herself for the sake of others without even thinking about it. She loved the outdoors, camping, rafting, hiking, and spending time playing with her family at the hot springs. Her laughter is infectious and any music played made her dance. She was a joy and a pleasure to be around and will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Terrie’s family would like to give special thanks to her soul sister, Pat Howard, who sacrificed her life to be there for our mother when she needed it most, providing exceptional care and comfort to her during her final weeks. We love you so very much!

Also, thank you to her former employer Springbrook Software and specifically Marily for your kindness and generosity over the past several months. You went above and beyond the call of duty and for that, we are so grateful.

The family will be celebrating Terrie’s final graduation at a private beach side ceremony on January 27, 2007.
